PREMIERE: TURPENTINE BABYCINO Channel American House-Party Vibes In Video For ‘Write A Song Sounds Shit’

Refusing to wallow in self-pity and heartbreak, Turpentine Babycino have given themselves a kick up the backside with their brand new belter Write A Song Sounds Shit. With a high energy and contagious atmosphere, the track is today accompanied by their music video, working with Newcastle cinematographer Wanagi-Zable Andews to bring their American-90’s-college-film influenced film to life.

Speaking about the music video, singer Georgie Winchester revealed how they roped family and friends into a party at bassists Manuel Rohrl’s house, before capturing the madness and revelry. “This video was super fun to make, especially the party scenes where we had a bunch of friends over to Manu’s house and they had to act out specific scenes. The flashbacks were probably the funnest to film; Gabe stuffing his face with cake, Cormac having to play-fight his cousin and Manu sculling an entire bottle of champagne to a cheering crowd – it got really rowdy. It kinda felt like one of those old American movies I grew up on where they have hectic college house parties.”

Turpentine Babycino is the new project from Newcastle collaborators Gabriel Argiris (Dave The Band) and Georgie Winchester. Recorded at iconic The Grove Studios (Birds of Tokyo, Violent Soho, DMA’s) with work from Chloe Gill on the production, the track was mixed by ARIA Award Winning producer Paul McKercher (Eskimo Joe, You Am I, Art vs. Science) & mastered at Studio 301 (King Stingray, Thelma Plum, The Rubens). Of the story behind the track, Georgie Winchester said, Write A Song Sounds Shit is about the aftermath of a break-up. Big parties, loud music, long nights and writing shitty break-up songs are often on the cards to help ‘forget’ about an ex. As a song-writer it’s easy to dismiss a great song due to self doubt and judgment and after a break-up, these insecurities are heightened. Write A Song Sounds Shit is that shitty break-up song that nobody’s supposed to hear, except people will this time.”

With a reputation for bringing loud rock and a punky 90’s fuzz to shows across NSW, Turpentine Babycino are set to capitalize on their demand in Newcastle and across the state, by taking their honest and vulnerable tunes, to stages across Australia, ready to pull audiences everywhere aboard with Turpentine Babycino.
