Kirsten Salty has shared her new single Exaggerator, a playful slice of R&B that Salty dedicates to all the drama kings and queens.
Co-written with Zach Hamilton-Reeves from Northeast Party House, Exaggerator is a tongue-in-cheek song about being self-aware enough to poke fun at your perceived flaws, ‘I know I’m the queen / Queen Exaggerator / My own heartbreaker’.
After realising her unique flair for the dramatic and tendency to exaggerate, Salty put pen to paper to write a song about being so in your head that you manifest your worst-case scenarios into happening.
“I know a lot of people can get stuck in these negative thought loops, where they jump to thinking the worst or exaggerate a situation or event, so I wanted to write a song for the kings or queens who can be quite dramatic – this one’s for you.”
– Kirsten Salty
Exaggerator is Salty’s fourth release this year, following July’s Lucy which was added to triple j Unearthed Radio and was followed by a spicy ROYBOY remix, and March’s Limbo which took out the #4 spot on New Music Friday and the cover of RADAR AU & NZ. She has performed live on ABC’s ‘The Sound’, Tik Tok’s Isol-Aid and shared stages with MAY-A, Budjerah and Fergus James.
Currently starring in Menulog’s new national ad campaign alongside Baker Boy, D’Arcy Spiller and Big Twisty, it’s no exaggeration that Kirsten Salty is on the rise, joining a new generation of triple threat artists who continue to push the boundaries of contemporary music.
