“The Hard-Ons have been brutal for four decades. It’s hard to imagine another band that has been tearing it up so consistently and so energetically for anywhere close to that amount of time. On the band’s freshly minted LP, I’m Sorry Sir, That Riff’s Been Taken, another dimension has been added, further enhancing the folklore surrounding this legendary Punchbowl crew.” – Happy Mag
Following the fantastic response to new single Lite As A Feather and its predecessor Hold Tight, Australia’s punk legends The Hard-Ons have today released their new album ‘I’m Sorry Sir, That Riff’s Been Taken’, their first with new singer Tim Rogers.
Whilst the announcement last month of Rogers’ recruitment was met with excitement, bemusement and yes the inevitable few grumbles from old fans, the new music hasn’t given fans anything to complain about.
‘I’m Sorry Sir, That Riff’s Been Taken’ shows the band in magical form; in fact the magic comes at least in part from the fact that Tim Rogers is one of the band’s biggest fans. As he recently told Blunt: “I’m a fan first and foremost. [They were] the first band I loved that I could see, the first band I got my nose broken to, [and the first band] I lost my hearing to. There are so many firsts. And then to be in the rehearsal room… I looked over at Blackie’s amp and went, ‘Oh, that’s the amp.’ And I saw the SG, and I was like, ‘That’s the SG.’ I’ve been watching him play with those since 1986.”
Pre-orders for the album have been so strong that the band’s label has sold out of the various coloured vinyl pressings. Retailers should still have copies of some, so anyone who hasn’t already might want to call check with their favourite retailers to see if they’ve got any left. Black vinyl, CDs and digital downloads can be bought directly from https://cheersquadrecordstapes.bandcamp.com/album/im-sorry-sir-that-riff-s-been-taken, or from the usual retail outlets.
