Delivering a fresh alt-rock spin of nostalgic tales, seasoned with crisp indie-pop undertones, Super Ghost (Gold Coast) refuse to remain in the shadows, unveiling their sophomore single Waiting List ahead of their debut EP (out October 29).
Leaping into the fray with debut single Vertex earlier in the year, Alexander Shoesmith and Hudson MacMahon of Super Ghost continue to showcase their combined artistry, collecting a throng of fans inspired by their unique musical style and electric live performances.
Now, with the release of their second single Waiting List, Super Ghost exemplify their unconventional approach to indie-rock with a moody, slightly sporadic track that showcases their evolving sound. Engulfed with guttural guitar riffs and propelling percussion, deep baritone vocals travel eerily to the chorus, reaching for something more yet still not ready to leave everything behind. Walking an untravelled path of self-discovery, gravelly guitars and growling tones cause apprehensively dragging feet, while scattered percussion thrusts movement forward.
Soaring vocal harmonies from the duo bring another chorus, as textured guitar riffs twist and turn. With the final abrupt note, we are left in limbo, wondering whether we have made it to our destination or are still waiting for a change.
With their trademark lyrical eloquence, Super Ghost wrote Waiting List about the discomfort of transition periods and the physical spaces representing these unsettling times, making the journey from the familiar into the unknown. Super Ghost explains:
“Waiting List describes the feelings of isolation and eeriness surrounding liminal spaces.”
Time to get in line for Super Ghost’s new single Waiting List, followed by the release of their highly-anticipated debut EP on October 29.
