After 17 years, the Australian extreme heavy metal act Minus Life present their long-awaited follow-up album ‘CONTORTED REALITY.’ After returning to The Australian metal scene in 2018, MINUS LIFE has completed their highly anticipated sophomore release to 2004’s ‘Eternal Urban Megacide’. The long-awaited sophomore release displays Minus Life’s myriad of influences combined with a developed maturity as songwriters to deliver an album both devastatingly heavy in its production whilst containing an organic sense of melodicism not normally associated within the genre.
Refusing to be pigeonholed into a specific sub-genre of extreme music, Minus Life flexes their high level of musicianship to produce ‘CONTORTED REALITY’ each having their own sonic identity from punishingly brutal death metal excursions, thrashing bangers, melodic progressions to intense, wall of sound orchestrations. With the listener being pummeled throughout the album from the sonic mayhem allowing for few moments of respite, Minus Life is eager to unleash ‘CONTORTED REALITY’ into the live arena, taking their already notoriously intense live show to a fierce new level.
Scott Moss (Vocalist):
“Contorted reality from start to finish is a mixed bag of art to me. Each song has a different feel and its own identity. At the same time the album, as a whole, feels cohesive and connected. Lyrically I have pushed myself to really change things up, with a mixture of subjects ranging from questioning reality, toxic love, governmental control, mental health, visionary killers… It truly is a cohesive mixed bag”
Ryan O’Connell (Guitar):
“Contorted reality is a balance of light & shade musically, we have set ourselves a new benchmark of musicality, songwriting, structuring that hits you like the vintage Minus Life, but with more maturity and focus as a band’.
Travis Henderson (Drums, Orchestrations):
“To me, this album signifies the beginning of the true Minus Life. ‘CONTORTED REALITY’ is the result of 2 years of hard work and I believe we have finally found our benchmark true sound. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved. Being able to create an orchestral element of our band has been challenging but rewarding. I want people to feel the energy that we have put into this release”
