Draped in gentle indie-folk melodies and delicate soul-baring narratives, Gold Coast songstress Naomi Connell forms deeply personal connections with her timeless sound, creating unbreakable bonds with her heartfelt approach to music.
In tender new single Strangers (out September 17), Naomi Connell showcases her devastatingly lovely voice and wondrous way with words, simultaneously tying herself to her audience whilst weaving a heartbreaking tale of growing apart in love.
With the light touch of a delicate chiffon dress on bare skin, Strangers opens with elegant finger-picked guitar as Connell’s exquisite vocals float and shimmer. In a gossamer of acoustic folk elegance, Connell travels into her song, demonstrating her intricate workmanship with bold yet intimate storytelling and enchanting melodies. With nothing to hide behind, Connell’s raw, powerful talent shines through, leaving everyone in her vicinity speechless and entirely under her spell.
As with all of her releases, Strangers is poignant and relatable as Connell delves into the feelings of uncertainty that arise following the realisation of time creating distance between lovers, stating: “Strangers is about growing apart in love. That void that is felt when you realise your partner has already checked out of the relationship and you’re faced with the inevitable… ‘what now?’”
Since the release of 2019 debut EP ‘Draped In Wine’, Connell has solidified her standing as one to watch, playing multiple shows and festivals, seeing support from ABC Radio, Byron Bay FM and more, as well as winning the coveted Toyota Country Music Championships last year.
With plenty on the horizon for the rising star, Naomi Connell will be playing an original showcase at The Bearded Lady in West End on Friday, September 24 following the highly-anticipated release of her new single Strangers on September 17.
