MoonDoll Festival Q&A Series: Ezra La Vin of THE WRETCHED CREATURES

Words/Interview: Shannon-Lee Sloane {The Colourful Writer}

With MoonDoll Music Festival just around the corner, we’ve taken some time to swing some messages to some of the bands and artists on the bill to ask them about the upcoming event and live music festivals in general, as well as some other questions to get to know them a little better! Next up we have heavy stoner rock riff machines, The Wretched Creatures – Ezra La Vin (Guitar + Vocals) with the answers!

Read on…

How excited are you to play MoonDoll Festival this year?

This will be our first festival appearance so we’re really excited to share our music with a larger audience.

How crazy do you think I am for putting on a music festival in 2021?

Well crazy times call for crazy actions! You know those musicians who played as the Titanic sank? They were probably just trying to alleviate fear a little and bring some comfort to people who really needed it at the time. The show must go on!

How do you feel about music festivals in general?

I like them a lot, but I have a rule where I won’t buy a $150+ ticket unless there are at least two bands I love.

What is the best music festival you’ve ever been to? Name the festival, the year, and the highlights of the event!

Big Day Out ’97 featuring Soundgarden, Prodigy, The Offspring and Fear Factory when they were all in their prime!

If you could play a festival with any band or artist in the whole world, who would it be and why?

It would be awesome to play at one of those massive metal festivals in Europe like Wacken or Roadburn with Electric Wizard. They really don’t seem to enjoy flying to Australia very often.

If you could create your own all star line up for a huge music festival, who would be your top five headlining bands?

Swans, Weird Al Yankovic, Sleep, Mogwai, Secret Chiefs 3.

Who are you most excited to see at MoonDoll this year?

Muules, Massic & Baltimore Gun Club

Who would you like to see on MoonDoll next year?

If you/your band was asked to include one cover song in your set, what song would you choose and why?

We’ve been working on a slower, heavier version of Electric Funeral by Black Sabbath. This song epitomises the Stoner Doom genre for me.

How do you feel about mixed genre festivals and gigs?

Well, you know how the saying goes,  ‘Variety is the spice of life – and the spice must flow!’ or something like that…

Who is your favourite local band?

Right now I’d have to say Gutterfire!

Who is your favourite Australian band of all time?

Tumbleweed. (Honourable mention to Cog)

If you could give your fans and followers words of wisdom or a motto, what would it be?

Create the art that you wish existed!
