MoonDoll Festival Q&A Series: Lom of THE CRYPT DADDIES

Words/Interview: Shannon-Lee Sloane {The Colourful Writer}

With MoonDoll Music Festival just around the corner, we’ve taken some time to swing some messages to some of the bands and artists on the bill to ask them about the upcoming event and live music festivals in general, as well as some other questions to get to know them a little better! Next up we have the hard hitting, fast paced, Psychobilly from beyond the grave, Brisbane three piece, The Crypt Daddies! The man on the Double Bass, Lom with the answers.

How excited are you to play MoonDoll Festival this year?

We’re extremely excited to play MoonDoll with so many other local bands. Such a great way to find new music and make new friends.

How crazy do you think I am for putting on a music festival in 2021?

It’s definitely a gamble with the current situation we all find ourselves in but considering that we could all be put in a snap lockdown at any moment, squeezing in a festival is the best thing anyone could do I think. Gotta get that gig fix!!

How do you feel about music festivals in general?

Festivals are the best. A day/night filled with bands, booze and mates… how can anyone go wrong?

What is the best music festival you’ve ever been to? Name the festival, the year, and the highlights of the event!

Greazefest Kustom Kulture 2011 was definitely a life changing event for me. I was only 10 but after seeing the music, the people and going to the festival every year it’s been on since, it’s pointed my life in the direction to where I am now. Without Greazefest, I wouldn’t have the job I have, the band I’m a part of… so many things just wouldn’t exist!

If you could play a festival with any band or artist in the whole world, who would it be and why?

Nekromantix. They’ve been the biggest inspiration for me and as far as Psychobilly goes are legends in the genre.

If you could create your own all star line up for a huge music festival, who would be your top five headlining bands?

Oh that’s easy… Nekromantix, Koffin Kats, The Brains, Godless Wicked Creeps and Mad Sin.

Who are you most excited to see at MoonDoll this year?

Pretty keen to see Kitty Daily. Our band played a couple of shows Carina’s other band The Wrath earlier this year and we haven’t been able to catch her in solo mode yet, so that’ll be a treat!

Who would you like to see on MoonDoll next year?

We’re obviously suckers for Psychobilly so bands like Saint Killed Her, Better Off Ted, Fireballs… Anything with some Upright Bass!

If you/your band was asked to include one cover song in your set, what song would you choose and why?

We do have a few covers… so if you catch our set at Moondoll, you’ll find out 😉

How do you feel about mixed genre festivals and gigs?

They’re honestly the best things ever. It opens people’s eyes to new bands. Gotta be diverse!

Who is your favourite local band?

Don’t like to play favourites but our band played a show with Monsters Up North and I’ve loved watching them play. Completely different to our sound but who cares, they’re sickkkkkkkk!!

Who is your favourite Australian band of all time?

Again, I don’t have favourites but for the sake of it, I’d have to say The Living End. Good to see a Double Bass in the “mainstream”.

If you could give your fans and followers words of wisdom or a motto, what would it be?

Stay calm and listen to Psychobilly \m/
