“[Rude Rum] encapsulate nostalgic tendencies with high-octane modernity; think Royal Blood in a hot tub with Gary Clark Jr. and The Black Keys, and you’ve got yourself an inkling of the Rude Rum trajectory that has endeared them to so many in a relatively short space of time.” – The Soundcheck

With a powerhouse single, Brisbane trio Rude Rum refresh the rock genre with their addictive new track TALK.
Igniting into the world with a zestful stride in front of a riff driven anthem, TALK combines the unique groove energy Rude Rum fans love, but with a bolder statement. Inspired by an experience of intolerable confinement with a loquacious individual, TALK displays White Stripes rebelliousness with Royal Blood modernity. Hooked in with a euphoric chorus, chaotic tension is portrayed through a primal rhythm supported by attitude hazed vocals.
“This is definitely one of our most attitude filled tracks” reveals front-man and songwriter Jaeden Ogston. “It was created with such raw emotional energy, and definitely nurtures a new side of our persona by stepping away from previous funk-esque influences“.
Previously supporting bands such as FANGZ & Brisbane supergroup Total Pace, Rude Rum are complementing the release with an exclusive Queensland tour presented by 97 Joyride Agency. Dates and tour information can be found here.
Since their debut release in 2019, the upcoming band have totalled over 21,000 streams on Spotify and have paired this with airplay on Australian radio stations including Triple M, 3RRR Melbourne, 4ZZZ Brisbane and 2RRR Sydney.
Designed by Brisbane photographer Darcy Goss, the TALK artwork aims to provoke vivid thoughts of societal strain to imitate the song’s initial inspiration. This is also the first time since their EP that Rude Rum have used photography for their cover art.
The band began making waves from late 2019 in their local scene with the release of Curious Affection; a flagship anthem resulting in an independent tour from Brisbane to Melbourne. Formed by front-man Jaeden Ogston (guitarist/vocalist), the trio including India Raine (bassist) and Jono Frowd (drummer) have their sights set on challenging current stigmas and revitalising the rock genre for a contemporary audience.
