Young Mackay pop talent Jonte Tupaea brings together a collection of star quality tunes with debut EP ‘Experiences’. This comes off the back of two previous single releases in 2020 (Kinky Boots and Halloween) and two EP teasers earlier this year (Lay Me Down and Love Hate Relationship). Now the world can hear all of his finest work in one place.
Recorded, produced and mixed on the Gold Coast by Josh Beattie, the tracks combine catchy hooks and instrumental with lyrical themes relatable to any teenager’s experience, dealing with the trauma of a heartbreak, the highs and lows of friendships and the common struggles of growing up.
‘Experiences’ shows how years of persistence has paid off for Jonte, as the artist has really begun to fine-tune his own sound.
“My first two singles were all about experimenting with sounds and gaining that ‘production’ experience. This EP showcases how I found my sound through different song-writing styles I experimented with and I express this through a rollercoaster of themes and life experiences,” Jonte said.
Having already performed at Airlie Beach Music Festival, supported for massive Aussie acts like Busby Marou, Christine Anu, and Brad Butcher, and received two RADF grants for music production, Jonte has developed a wealth of lived experience at just 16 years of age. His other acknowledgements include performing Starley’s hit song Call On Me on her Instagram live, winning the Fast Track To Fame Award from the ‘Fast Track Talent Showcase’, and locking in the opportunity to open for Isaiah at the MECC later this year. With an endless pool of potential and a burning desire to share his rapidly-developing talent with the world, the future for this Mackay teen looks bright.
