“This new one is feisty and full of energy, it’s gonna set you charged into your week… it’s got these really great heavy charged riffs and this powerful earthy essence about it too.” – Claire Mooney, Triple J
From the small, rural town Gilletts Ridge, in NSW Australia, rock roots duo, Salt and Steel have just released their latest single, Mountain and have announced a bunch of East Coast tour dates.
This new single grasps the bands unique, powerful and earthy rock sound.
“Mountain was inspired by Mother Earth and her formidable force. Natures strength and beauty is something that we cannot live without and that’s why we need to respect and look after her.”
– Briony Edgar (Lead singer and guitarist)
Heavy riffs, solid drums and roaring vocals are contrasted with soft, melodic moments within the song, capturing the beauty of nature without forgetting how strong and powerful it can be.
“We have always been on a path to a heavier sound, and this song really gets that. We both love heavy breakdowns and percussive riffs, Mountain has it all. We can’t help but keep that earthiness, no matter how rock we get, it’s in our blood.
Briony and I are very connected in music and life, hardly spending a day apart in the last 9 years and it’s something that comes through in our music.”
– Elle Steele (Drummer, backing vocalist)
Mountain was recorded and mixed on the Gold Coast with Brad Hosking at Blind Boy Studios (Amy Shark, Casey Barns) and Mastered by Paul Blakey at 12th Vine and Post (Amy Shark, Busby Marou, Casey Barns).
Salt and Steel are not afraid to step outside the box and create music that is true to themselves. Mountain is another authentic, deep-rooted song that inspires and empowers the listener. A connection in the music that you won’t often hear, the two put together a sound that is both beautiful and wild.
Mountain is now out on all digital platforms.
