“…the power, the energy, and the message needed to grab you by your collar,
pull you in, and make you listen to every second…” – Tone Deaf
Eli Greeneyes has shared his latest single Tragedy, a smooth rock-hip-hop blended track, premiered via triple j Unearthed TOPS.
Flying west to reside in Perth after spending his time in Melbourne honing his sound, Eli Greeneyes blends pop-rock and hip-hop sounds with vulnerable and self-reflective lyrics. Emotionally charged and reflecting a series of life changing events and relationships, Eli explains: “Tragedy is about coping mechanisms, escapism and letting go of drama within your life and relationship. I wrote this song as a purge to my always stressful, anxiety filled, depression driven life and the realisation that it must be pretty full on to be in a relationship with someone who has a lot of unsolved issues that arise in unhealthy ways”.
Tragedy follows a series of acclaimed releases from the artist, previously premiering his single 21 via triple j’s Home & Hosed, plays across community radio, and praise from tastemakers such as Music Feeds, Tone Deaf, iHeart Radio, and more. This year The Music also dubbed him an artist to watch in 2021. With pop writing sensitivities and a story to tell, Tragedy echoes the refined sound of Brit-pop bands like Oasis as well as artists like YUNGBLUD.
With more singles on the way and celebrating his release with a series of live shows across Western Australia, Eli is definitely an artist worth getting to know.
