TRAGIC ME Return With New Single ‘For The Night’

TRAGIC ME, have returned after an 18 month hiatus with a new line up and a brilliant new single For The Night.

The pause of live music in 2020 meant the band spent their time recording a new three song EP titled Overthought, due for release in 2021, with their first single For The Night releasing March 12th 2021 along with an energetic and high-powered music video on their YouTube and Facebook page.

Frontman Alex Thompson-Tark says, “It feels so good to finally be back writing music with some of my best friends. It felt like part of me was missing without music.”

Tragic Me are a 4 piece alt-rock/moody pop band from Brisbane, Australia whose songs explore the emotions and challenges that life can present as a young adult. With a tongue in cheek attitude to life’s misfortunes and a diverse range of influences, Tragic Me loves to create music that is both catchy and diverse as well as boundary breaking. For The Night is an ode to the weekends that were once spent filled with blurry nights out before COVID-19 took them away. The song has a maturity to it compared to the band’s previous releases, yet still keeps their catchy choruses and storytelling. The lustful, sexy song captures the initial attraction and heat of the moment when eyes meet on a night out.

2020, as we all know, was a write-off as far as live music was concerned, but with the global pandemic well under control in their home country of Australia, Tragic Me are looking forward to getting back on stage in the coming weeks. Their hunger to perform was made all the more real after their most recent show – the first outing of the new lineup, sold out.

This has to be great news for the band’s ever-growing legions of fans as their live shows are known for being high-energy, exciting and unforgettable affairs.

“The new line up is exactly what we needed to propel us to our next level,” Alex continues. “Getting India (bass) and Jacob (drums) on board has really upped our ante. I love the guys so much and am so excited for the world to hear our stuff!”

The new lineup and fresh perspective has seen a change of influences too – fans of The 1975, The Band Camino and 5 Seconds of Summer, listen up! You won’t want to miss this!

Formed in 2018 by members Alex Thompson-Tark and Ben Rayson, Tragic Me started in the pop-punk scene with influences coming from artists such as Neck Deep, The Maine and My Chemical Romance, releasing their debut EP ‘Young Hearts’ in November 2018.

Having no plans of slowing down after the release, Tragic Me hit the stage in support of international heavyweights Deaf Havana on their 2019 Australian Tour.

With the world coming to a halt in 2020, the band took the opportunity to step into a new era, which saw a change of drummer – welcome powerhouse Jacob Thrum, and bassist India Raine officially joined the band after the Brisbane-based session muso had previously filled in for the occasional live show.

After spending recent months in the studio with their producer Josh Setterfield, Tragic Me are set to hit 2021 hard with new releases and the energy fueled live shows we have all been craving!
