Folk and Americana duo The Wicked Messenger introduce their delicate new release I Am Here. A striking piece full of heart, the Brisbane pair showcase a raw and emotive side. With poignant lyrics and soft acoustic instrumentation, The Wicked Messenger continue to captivate. A track that delivers a sense of peace, I Am Here serves as a sanctuary.
After the success of their latest release You Don’t Love Me Anymore gaining industry attention and premiering on Double J’s Tower of Song, the folk outfit have dropped another flourishing single set to appear on their upcoming album. Known for his work amongst soul collective The Holy Rollercoasters, The Wicked Messenger’s Jimi Beavis shares his folk journey with duo partner Janey Mac. Renowned for her involvement in The Good Ship, the pair came together to form The Wicked Messenger.
“I write about love and death a lot. Perhaps it is a way to prepare myself. It comforts me.”
Recorded amongst the nestled forests of Brisbane’s Mt Nebo, The Wicked Messenger worked alongside producer Jamie Trevaskis in his home studio, Wild Mountain Sound. Written within the walls of The Wicked Messenger’s home, the song was inspired by an emotive feeling of loss and love. Surrounded by their beloved cats, vocalist Jimi Beavis wrote the track with them and his partner Janey in mind, wondering how he would cope if he were to lose it all. Layered with pedal steele soundscapes and acoustic guitar, the song hones in on Jimi’s powerful lyrics. A pure folk single, I Am Here is a reminder to embrace the ones you love. Keep an eye out for an upcoming music video with wholesome footage of the duo with their beloved pet cats on the horizon.
Along with the release, the pair have announced a single launch at Brisbane’s Vvaldmeer, Saturday March 13.
