BAST N MOVE are an exciting electronic art-pop duo from Brisbane, they are a self-produced collaboration between Sabrina Lawrie and Benjamen Kerswell. Drifting in and out of each other’s lives since the early 2000’s, as musicians, lovers and friends, the pair began to collaborate again in 2018 after an 11 year gap between projects. The duo are now set to kick off the new era with the release of Dancing On The Sun.
Co-produced by Darek Mudge and mastered by Bryce Morehead, the new track from BAST N MOVE was written following Ben’s diagnosis of brain cancer and the duo’s formidable and inspiring attitude to not let it get the better of them and to face the realities of life head on. The duo explain, “One of the major lessons we’ve come to learn coping with the reality of our situation was to do our best to try and live in the moment and appreciate whatever that brings. So the concept here is that even an ordinary day is actually a miracle and is to be celebrated as completely as you can in that moment, hence the lyrics ‘we’re dancing on the sun, on an ordinary day’ kind of became our mantra.”
At the heart of BAST N MOVE’s music is an important message. Their shared passion for the deeper meaning of existence, the cosmos, spirituality, politics and the environment and the universe at large are the messages that inform the lyrics and drive the energy of the music. With Sabrina’s inspiration deriving from her rock and roll roots, and Ben working behind the veil as a producer and recording engineer, the duo aim for Dancing On The Sun to bring audiences “A sunny feeling and a sense of hope even when faced with a desperate situation. We really want people to be open to the unexplained energies and frequencies of love and joy that we can tap into when we’re feeling really low and find the energy to try and rise above.”
