JOSH KING Releases Debut EP ‘I Guess We’re Strangers Now’ + Announces Brisbane Headline Show

“Up front tenderness and heart on his sleeve style – it works for him too!” – Dave Ruby Howe, triple J.

“There’s something undeniably captivating about the music of Josh King. By the time it [his debut release “116”] reaches it’s conclusion, you’ll have been roped in completely by King’s sprawling pop sounds.” – Happy Mag

“Yes it’s about a love that didn’t work out, but you know what did work out? This song [“Cuts”]. It’s catchy, it’s emotive – most of us can relate to the lyrics. It’s totally okay to cry to this song in your car, shower, workplace, your choice.” – AAA Backstage

Brutal honesty is second nature to Gold Coast Singer-songwriter Josh King. Topics like love, loss and all the heartbreak that comes along with it are never off the table when it comes to putting pen to paper. With lyrics that will mirror the pain of your first heartbreak and soundtrack your healing, King tunnels his way into your emotions and creates his own brand of new-age pop. Woven into infectious melodies, sparkling synths and ambient guitars, King’s lyrics find a home in your heartbreak while making you dance to it.

After continuing to release songs throughout 2020, 2021 is set to be an exciting year as King releases his debut EP, ‘I Guess We’re Strangers Now’ ~ the culmination of years of hard work, heartache, song-writing and sonic exploration.

Influenced by the works of John Mayer, Lauv and Taylor Swift, King has synthesised the best parts about these artists’ work and poured it into his own craft, resulting in an emotionally charged and sonically splendid body of work.

When speaking about the forthcoming release King says “I hope these songs soundtrack your midnights, your heartbreaks, those drives where you can’t see what’s in front of you because the tears won’t stop rolling down your cheeks, and the dancing around your room when everything feels like it should.”
