“Good Lekker are showing off their versatility on this one, giving us a bit more of an early Jungle Giants / Northeast Party House feeling and i’m bouncing along to its style from go to whoa.” – 4/5 stars – Declan Byrne – triple j
“That guitar breakdown at the end of the track just gave me popeye muscles. My arms are comically large and I have you to thank for that.” – 4/5 stars – Tommy Faith – triple j Unearthed

Wollongong-based indie-dance band Good Lekker have just revealed their grandiose new single Hard to Be Alone, produced by the band themselves and mastered by Steve Smart at Studios 301.
Bursting with arpeggiating synths and pulsing summery piano chords, Hard to Be Alone immediately launches into infectious lead guitar riffs, unwavering percussion and groove-laden bass lines to create an exquisite blend of uplifting indie-dance. As the track reaches its climatic outro, splashing crash cymbals and manic guitars mesh to form a wholly monumental finale.
Co-frontman Josh Fahy talks about the inspiration behind Hard to Be Alone:
“We wrote the track in early 2020 up on the Central Coast in a jam session and the lyrics represent the turmoil I was dealing with at the time. I wanted the lyrics to take aim at a caricature of myself, mainly to vent on some built up frustration I had about my actions. I have the tendency to be unnecessarily argumentative, and I wanted to portray the ridiculousness of that through this caricature.”
Good Lekker have consistently traversed the east coast of Australia, including multiple headline tours and supporting crowd favourites Boo Seeka and The Babe Rainbow. This has also included performances at Australian boutique festivals Party in the Paddock, Yours & Owls, Sweaty Palms, FKA Festival and Garden Party.
Previous releases have been widely embraced by Spotify and Australian radio stations triple j, triple j Unearthed, 4ZZZ, RTR FM, JOY FM, Radio Adelaide and 2RRR. They’ve also been featured by Australian blog tastemakers Pilerats, Life Without Andy, Trouble Juice and The AU Review.
In the coming weeks, Good Lekker will reveal an accompanying music video for Hard to Be Alone.
