SWISH MUSIC RELEASE HOOK-DRIVEN NEW SINGLE DREAMS
THE TRACK EXPLORES THE CHALLENGES OF BEING AN ARTIST IN AUSTRALIA
Queensland hip-hop collective Swish Music have released their latest single Dreams through Sony Music Entertainment Australia. The track follows last year’s singles Showtime (featuring fellow Queenslanders Hoodzy and Nerve) and Blow.
Dreams brims with hooks and verses that showcase the diverse talents that make up the Swish collective. The track explores the challenges of being an artist in Australia and the hurdles the group has faced while trying to have their voices heard.
“Growing up in Australia as an artist can be tough because there’s so much competition and doubt, which is what led to us creating ‘Dreams’,” says TMB. “After finishing work one day, my cousin DJ Akoy rang me, telling me he had a Swish Music song for us and sang it to me.”
“The hook really resonated with me since it’s been the story of our lives ever since we started making music. People be hating, doubting, constantly trying to bring us down, saying we couldn’t make it ‘out the swish [Ipswich].’ Akoy experienced all of this with us, which came through in his writing.”
“The next day we had a team studio session, which is when I searched for the beat on YouTube, once I found it, me and Gamirez began arranging the hook to fit Dc and Redd’s verses.”
Swish Music’s Dc Ralph says the song encapsulates the trials and tribulations he faces everyday on the path to achieve his dreams and offers a strong message of self-empowerment.
“My verse was really just me expressing how I am the only person who can motivate myself to accomplish my dreams. Even though naturally there are parts of ourselves that want attention and help from others, it will still always be up to me to ensure I’m putting in the work to make my dreams a reality.”
“The one thing I can say to those who may be in a similar position is to continue working hard to accomplish what they want to achieve. That way they’ll wake up every day knowing that you have something to strive towards and look forward to: that dream you’re chasing so hard to make it a reality.”
Dreams also comes with a stunning video shot in and around Ipswich, directed by Lawson Cross. Watch HERE.
Swish Music was founded by Dau Dau, one of the groups MCs, and named after the city in which the outfit began – Ipswich, Queensland.

The 12 members of Swish Music come from diverse cultural backgrounds including South Sudanese, Uganadan and Australian, with each member flexing and bringing their personal experiences and stories to the table.
