‘Behind the Songs’ is a showcase of local artists sharing their original music and the stories that made their songs, hosted by the Black Bear Lodge. For country music fans, or simply lovers of storytelling, tickets are on sale HERE for November 11th.
On the panel will be multi-award winner Tony Q, who has a swathe of musical accomplishments behind him. Usually found playing in The Tony Q Band, he has performed at the Gympie Muster, Tamworth Country Music Festival and VDM Fest. In 2019, he reached Number 1 on the Australian Country Music Airplay Chart with the band’s single Honky Tonk Bar in the City. Performing as a solo artist for the showcase, Tony will be sure to get your feet tapping.
Joining Tony Q will be Cassi Marie, who already has a 10-year career behind her, with achievements including performing at the Gympie Music Muster and Tamworth Country Music Festival. In 2019 Cassi released her fifth EP, ‘Pieces of My Heart’, which was recorded with the legendary Bill Chambers. 2020 has seen Cassi work on collaborative projects, with her latest release Keep Me Safe featuring on the ‘Big Sky Girls: Volume 2’ album in August. She has also partnered with Brisbane band The English Rain, where she featured on multiple songs from their debut album ‘Echoes of You’.
Also on the panel is Issy Burnup, who has performed at a wide range of venues around Brisbane, as well as the Gympie Music Muster, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Yeppoon Village Festival and the Airlie Beach Music Festival. Currently studying music at the JMC Academy in Brisbane, Issy is set to graduate with her degree at the end of this year. Although the release of her debut EP was postponed until 2021 due to the COVID pandemic, Issy is looking forward to giving audiences at the showcase a sneak peek of what’s to come next year.
