Kylie Minogue – ‘DISCO’ out today – November 6, 2020 via Liberator Music/BMG

Disco ain’t dead! That’s decidedly evident as Australia’s very own dance floor diva Kylie Minogue, sweeps into the back end of 2020 with an all new full-length album – ‘DISCO’! It’s her first album release since the 2018 record breaking, smash hit ‘Golden’ and it’s set to be a sure-fire sensation, so you’d be wise to start believing in the groove ‘DISCO’ has to offer. With 12 intoxicating earworms especially geared for your listening, pulsing, dancing pleasure, Kylie is all set not only to revive the disco scene but to achieve some monumental milestones while she is at it. Not the least being that with the release of ‘DISCO’ she stands on the threshold of being the first female artist ever to have hit albums across five consecutive decades. Extraordinary effort!

Now, in a world that’s a little lack lustre and a tad worse for the wear at present, ‘DISCO’ has the diminutive pop icon showcasing her unique and enticing blend of showmanship, synchronised beats, inclusive, universal lyrics and captivating energy to deliver an album dedicated to the golden days of the discotheque, one brimming over with enough pop and fizz to prove a delectable tonic for these unpleasant times. ‘DISCO’ is saturated with that super special brand of Kylie faith – faith in music, dance and song to lighten the load, lift the heart, empower the spirit and enable us to leave our cares and worries behind, if even just for a little while. Sugar sweet lyrics braced with hypnotic four to the floor bass lines bring to life a glittering 70’s inspired revival of all things bright, light and free.

Say Something, the first single to be released from the album definitely hits the brief and sets about charting a path skyward for what’s to follow. With electronic beats, lyrics of endearing love, unity and hope, the song’s been paired with a glam retro, space themed video directed by Sophie Muller – it’s a kaleidoscopic fusion of light, sound and imaginary complete with golden horse, sparkling orbs, space blankets and star men, an intergalactic treat.

While it’s a certainty that there’s bound to be a few dance floor anthems come from ‘DISCO’’s track list. Whether that dance floor space be your lounge room floor, the kitchen lino or a sorely missed club scene remains anyone’s guess in most places around the world at the moment, but there is little doubt you’ll be spinning around and bopping about wherever you find yourself, if synthesised disco beats are your thing. And if so, get ready to dust of those mirror balls, break out the multi coloured light pack, grab your glomesh and strap yourself in for a ride because Kylie’s lit a rocket under her disco crusade.

Keep an ear out for Monday Blues, with its big party feel and Mardi Gras vibe it is sure to be a huge hit amongst revellers everywhere. Supernova is bound to have to you all lit up with its intergalactic themes and super catchy reverb. Likewise, Last Chance, Dance Floor Darling and Unstoppable will be boogied, shimmied and sung along to at quantum levels, all throughout the Kylie universe I’m sure.

For another little taste of what’s to come Friday 6th November, be sure to check out the official video for the album’s second single and opening track Magic. Coming in at over 4 minutes it’s sets the scene for the album, inviting listeners into Kylie’s realm, a space of supernatural forces, intoxicating energy, escapist idealism and the decadence that has always been disco. A space it seems she is set on making her own domain, for with this album it’s evident the princess of pop is stepping boldly in the glittering finery of a disco dance floor queen.

While there’ll be no touring for the new album, Kylie’s still all set to entertain fans with an unpresented invitation to join her on for KYLIE: INFINITE DISCO – A Worldwide Performance Spectacular being broadcast all around the globe on November 7th. It’s an exclusive, one off ticketed live stream event, aimed to coincide with the album launch and combat the isolation of our current times by creating a celebratory virtual community of concert goers and dancing queens in their very own homes.

In lieu of a live concert, it’s an awesome alternative to have your very own dance floor darling beamed straight into your lounge room for a little bump, grind and boogie. Be sure to check out what time zone you want to join and grab your tickets, you can bundle both the album and performance tickets together if you wish, but if your staying true to the retro feel, why not go all the way and bag yourself a DISCO cassette or clear vinyl copy!

See you on the flip side party people. xx
