Brisbane’s loveable Indie pop-rock band, Shag Rock, return with new single Flicker, an upbeat track fused with feels and introspective musings of a modern-day infatuation.
Landing on Spotify’s New Music Friday on release day the track is laden with groove-driven riffs and a dash of cheekiness synonymous with Australian surf rock. The song pays homage to their songwriting roots whilst representing their growth and maturity. Exploring the notions of self-comparison and fretting over the unknown, Flicker looks at how one moment can change it all. “With everything in this world scaring us it only takes a flicker of someone’s eyes and suddenly you’re thinking of a future together,” explains guitarist and vocalist, Jacob Reed.
The band have been busy over the past few years, playing sold out shows and festivals across Australia and New Zealand, touring the USA in 2017 as well as supporting Australian powerhouses such as The Rubens, Ocean Alley, and Lime Cordiale. Already a rising act in the Australian indie music scene, they have amassed 12 million streams on Sunbleached Girl alone and 30 million streams on streaming platforms worldwide.
With an extensive body of work under their belt, Flicker is the first single from their final single written from their upcoming and first-ever double album, set to be released early 2021.
This new era of shaggy groove is set to open a new chapter for the band and whilst remaining true to their well-known optimism and cruisey vibes.
