Parker Sounds is a pop-rock band from the Gold Coast, drawing influence from the likes of Jack Johnson, The Killers, and Pearl Jam. The band write simple, catchy tracks, that are then transformed by powerful vocals, happy-go-lucky keys and tasty guitar licks. The band have had a 2020, releasing a string of singles including Something Heavy, Prison Cell, and Discoface, recently playing a sold out launch show at Nightcap, Nobby’s Beach.
Having secured a grant with the Scenic Rim Regional Council, fans will be excited to get a further taste of the band’s debut album, with the release of their new single, Tightrope, which premiered over on The AU Review. With Discoface providing a lighthearted, upbeat track built for a live show, the new single displays the band’s lyrical introspection. The band discusses the juxtaposition that can present itself in a relationship, explaining “Tightrope is about the push and pull of a dysfunctional relationship. It’s the committed devotion two people share regardless of the built-up resentment and fighting that threatens to rip it apart at any moment. Knowing it’s over but not wanting to make the call, you know?”.
With vocals and drums tracked at Bignote Productions at the Gold Coast, guitars and keys were tracked by primary producer Josh Beattie at the recently built Our Space studio in the Gold Coast Hinterland before mixing and mastering the track. Tightrope is another example of why Parker Sounds is one of the most exciting bands on the Gold Coast, possessing a gifted vocal and songwriting ability. Keep an eye out in early 2021 for the band’s debut album!
