‘In Waiting’, is Pillow Queens’ debut album which is OUT NOW! It’s the result of four years of brotherly love in a sisterly unit from Ireland’s most urgent, yearning, rock band. Crafted from their lives, and honed in a studio in rural Donegal in the northwest of Ireland, this is a record by queens in waiting and kings in the making.

This is an album about the in-between; the transitionary period of an adulthood that never seems to arrive. It’s an album about the purgatorial aspect of late-stage capitalism, where the systems conspire to burden and punish; job insecurity, housing crises, income inequality, and social inequity. It’s an album about family; chosen, given, received and earned.

It’s an album about spirituality; from the engrained confines of religion, to the expanding borders of spirituality, and the iconography and ritual that populates the emotional interior of anyone who grows up in Ireland. It’s about resilience of the politics of the self and belief in the power of art. The wounded deer leaps highest. Tiocfaidh ár lá.

The band accompany the release with a brand new music video for Liffey, lyrically a very apocalyptic song and sonically very prevalent. The band say: “We wanted the sound of this to punch you in the gut which meant everything needed to be huge white the lead guitar was still able to slice through powerfully. We had envisioned it being like a thunder storm of instruments and vocals, from the low pulsing drum and bass to the swelling cymbals and wailing guitars.”

Pillow Queens  have received a phenomenal amount of praise around the world from the likes of The Guardian, NME, Clash, Paste, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, BBC Radio 1 and Gig Wise to name a few. In Australia, they have also felt the love from the likes of Triple J, RRR, RTR, Frankie Magazine, The Australian, Music Feeds and many more.

Having played Festivals in Europe and due to play SXSW earlier this year, the band have solidified their status as “One To Watch” in 2020. Not too long ago they crossed shores to play shows in the USA and have their eyes set on visiting Australia as soon as they can.
