Newcomer Cass Hopetoun’s sophomore single Typical Bride has toppled Taylor Swift from the top spot on The Music Network Country Hot 50 airplay chart.
Written by Cass with Blake Dantier and produced by Matt Fell, Typical Bride is a defiant country sass anthem for girls who want to do things their own way. On hearing the news, Hopetoun jumped straight on social media… “HOLY MACKEREL! Typical Bride is #1 on The Music Network Country Airplay Chart! Excuse me whilst I go celebrate like there is no tomorrow. Thank you SO SO much Aussie radio!!!”
Cass’s manager and MD of Compass Bros Records Graham Thompson is equally excited. “A hearty congratulations to Cass for her well-deserved #1. She’s a unique and extraordinary talent with a formidable work ethic. The few of us lucky enough to be hearing what’s happening in the studio at the moment are without doubt that this significant achievement will be the first of many.”
Widely lauded as the one to watch in 2020, Blue Mountains based Hopetoun’s debut single Shots landed in March, was added to Spotify and Apple playlists and peaked at #4 on The Music Network Country Hot 50 chart. She supported Casey Donovan at the first pandemic-induced drive-in concert in Sydney. TheMusic, who reviewed the gig, celebrated the “set of country-inspired originals [which] will go down in history, along with the first crowd participation using car horns in a cover of Dragon’s April Sun In Cuba.” Hopetoun appeared on both Sunrise and Channel 7 National News after the performance.
Hopetoun is currently working on her debut album, which will be released in 2021.
Typical Bride is available on all streaming platforms.
