Bad Juju have unveiled their highly-anticipated sophomore EP ‘You’re Not Alone’. A melancholy and emotive compilation, the EP sees Bad Juju channel their powerful brand of punk rock and grunge to deal with the complications of relationships, the stresses of everyday life, love, guilt and grief.
“The EP title ‘You’re Not Alone’ is a reference to the struggles we all face with our inner demons,” reflects guitarist Abe Miller. “It is also a reminder that whilst we may feel alone in our situation, there are many others around us who are there to offer a helping hand if we just reach out.”
‘You’re Not Alone’ was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Avalanche Studios with Callan Orr. The EP follows the band’s recent singles Disappoint, Dawn, and Let’s Talk, which collectively saw additions to Spotify’s Rock Out and Apple Music’s New Music Daily and New Rock playlists, as well as an inclusion in triple j Unearthed’s Top 5 Songs of the Week for Disappoint. The track was also praised by triple j’s Richard Kingsmill, who said “I love a song of confession that is screamed from a mountain top. Loud and proud stuff again from these guys”, marking an impressive start to the year.
Bad Juju entered into the spotlight in 2017 with all guns blazing, creating hard-hitting 90s inspired grunge rock. Their first song Bloom immediately made an impression, with Triple J Unearthed’s Dave Ruby Howe giving it 4.5 stars saying “Big! It’s like a sustained series of body blows.”
In 2018, the band released melodic and hook-driven Moving On, lifted from their debut EP ‘Hidden Desire’. The release captured the attention of Triple J and Triple J Unearthed, securing an add to full rotation on both stations, and scoring the band a slot as Unearthed Featured Artist.
Since the release of ‘Hidden Desire’, Bad Juju have been cutting their teeth on the live circuit alongside some impressive names, including Mayday Parade (US), Trophy Eyes, Dream On Dreamer, and Columbus, as well as performing at BIGSOUND 2018.
In 2019 the band turned their attention once more to writing and recording a follow-up, and in October released Say It which also received high praise from Triple J Unearthed and Triple J’s Group Music Director Richard Kingsmill, who gave it 4 stars saying “You fucking mean it. I can tell. All bands should.” In 2020 Bad Juju are back and ready to hit the scene again in a big way. After a couple of years honing their sound and making the live show better than ever, the band are excited to follow up on ‘Hidden Desire’ and show everyone what they’re made of.
