DVNA returns with her new single called All My Friends, a personal track that touches on issues surrounding mental health that she had witnessed in her own friends.
The single also drops alongside the announcement of her debut EP ‘All My Friends’ set for release on Friday 25 September, and a Queensland EP Tour set to commence from mid October.
Staying true to her brand of colourful electronica mixed with neo-soul accents, the track is a self-produced masterpiece that was written by DVNA at the start of 2020 in the peak of NSW’s horror bushfire season. Taking influence from the mental hardships that her friends faced during the unfurling events, All My Friends sonically is one of DVNA’s most playful songs yet, however, lyrically the self-written track presents a deeper tone to what we usually see from the Gold Coast native. DVNA explains: “Personally, I was able to relate on so many levels, having experienced these feelings for myself, although expressing it the only way I knew how. Through song. I sat down with my guitar and wrote it in about 30 minutes. From there I began production. I wanted contrast between the two as we seem to mask our true feelings in order to appear ’put together’”.
Reminding listeners that it’s OK to not have everything together, the song highlights some of the harsh pressures that young Australian’s face on a day-to-day basis in the world’s current climate. “Seeking validation externally will never work and you’ll find pure bliss when you surrender to the fact that you are exactly where you’re meant to be”, DVNA continues.
To commemorate the release of her debut EP ‘All My Friends’, DVNA just announced earlier this week she will also be performing at a handful of venues, with her first stop in her hometown on Saturday 10 October.
Taking huge strides since the project’s fruition in 2017, DVNA has amassed over 4 million Spotify streams, won the award for “Song Of The Year” at the Gold Coast Music Awards for her single Looking Like A Snack, as well as supporting a range of artists including LEISURE, Alice Ivy and Arno Faraji. After being one of the most talked-about artists at the 2019 instalment of BIGSOUND, DVNA started 2020 strong being named triple j Unearthed Feature Artist in January which earnt her a slot at Brisbane’s St.Jerome’s Laneway Festival and most recently collaborated with South Australian electronic-hip hop artist PNK FME on his track I Know But You Don’t.
