HANNAH returns today with follow up track, I Wanna featuring fellow Melbournian, JAYDEAN, premiered via triple j’s Roots N All.
Inspired by daydreaming and manifestation, the track incorporates notes of reggaeton and roots all the while staying true to her signature R&B/Neo-soul inspired vocals: “The track is merely about wanting to escape everyday life, and live up to your best self…realising that life is yours to design and you can really do anything you want with it if you let yourself,” explains HANNAH.
After a releasing her debut single Sweet & Sour earlier this year, fellow artist and friend, JAYDEAN adds the right amount of sweetness with his silky, smooth as honey vocals, that compliments HANNAH to bring together a soulful yet bubbly track.
“I’m so thankful to have had JAYDEAN join me on the track. We recorded with Julian Steel, who turned my vision for the track into something really special. It has this reggae vibe to it, much more upbeat to what I usually write, but the sound perfectly captures what I had in mind whilst writing,” she continues.
Singe emerging in late April, HANNAH was instantly met with praise from tastemakers triple j Unearthed, Purple Sneakers, NME Australia, AuspOp and 3RRR community radio. Prior to this, HANNAH has been working hard pre-COVID performing at iconic venues around Melbourne such as The Gasometer and Workers Club and drawing favourable comparisons to fellow powerhouse female soul artists such as SYD and Jorja Smith. HANNAH was also one of 40 emerging artists to be selected for the Nando’s Music Exchange in London where they were mentored by Kwame and Nadia Rose.
Fusing her musical passion and humanitarian soul, last week HANNAH worked with artists Elysia Gomez and AVA, and performed at a live-streamed gig called ISO-UL FEST on the evening of 21 August. All funds raised at the eventwent towards the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services (NATSILS) campaign.
