TYRONE NOONAN Set To Release New Single ‘Black Dog’

ARIA-award winning Tyrone Noonan returns to the airwaves in 2020, following a multi-faceted solo career that began after 10 years as front man for No 1-charting band george. The band’s debut album, ‘Polyserena’, sold double platinum and won george an ARIA for Best New Artist before releasing eight EPs, two albums and an award‐winning DVD during its career. With the return of Tyrone as a solo musician this year, he is set to release new single Black Dog, on June 26 taken from his forthcoming album ‘Utopia?’.

Black Dog is a positive, upbeat yet honest about depression. It’s told from the perspective of someone who’s been through the journey, offering hope to someone who’s struggling. Mental health is a huge issue in the music industry and society in general and while the song was written before COVID-19, its release seems quite timely. And it’s my humble wish that this song may provide some relief and hope to people who are suffering right now,” says Tyrone.

His long‐awaited follow‐up album, ‘Utopia?’, will be released later in 2020. The album traverses genres and influences, with pop gems sitting comfortably alongside beautiful ballads, and all carrying a powerful message as Tyrone expertly weaves between personal and socio‐political themes.

The recording was split mainly between Tyrone’s Frontal Lobe Studio in Brisbane and The Barn Recording Studio in Plainlands (QLD), with a couple of tracks recorded with his band in New York, and a collaboration with the late Grant (G.W) McLennan (of The Go‐Betweens, and including his last vocal recording) recorded at The Tanuki Lounge in West End. The album was mixed by Paul Gomersall in Byron Bay, who, with 35 years experience, has worked on albums for artists including George Michael, Blur, Echo & The Bunnymen and Phil Collins. The album was mastered by Kathy Naunton at db mastering in Sydney, who has worked with incredible Australian artists including Midnight OilPaul MacHoodoo Gurus and Falling Joys.
