KYLE TAYLOR Shares Single ‘Commander Mary’ From Forthcoming EP ‘The Creatures’

Comparable to classic storyteller artists like Rodriguez, and often likened to folk godfather Bob DylanKyle Taylor travels the world with the wind of a troubadour in his sails. Drawing inspiration from the places he visits and the people he meets, Taylor deep-dives into everything from today’s news, local and international issues, to good old fashioned love songs. Featuring something for thinkers, drinkers, fighters and hopeless romantics, his latest EP ‘The Creatures’ is an absolute doozy, led by the belting first single Commander Mary.

In true folk style, Commander Mary feasts on the bountiful lyric fodder of religion and politics, dissecting the news and rearranging it into the street poetry of a busker. Kyle wails on his acoustic guitar at breakneck speed, while spitting out lyrics like a fire-breathing dragon… “Commander Mary watches all the cameras from inside the base / When Joseph rolls on into town security will be in place / The President is briefed again the seventh time by USA / A thousand men get suited up with white sunglasses on their face.” The balladry of Dylan, with the ballistics of Billy Bragg.

Encouraged by his grandparents to become a musician, Kyle‘s mission to try and inspire people has taken him around the world finding his audience – with multiple tours to the UK and New Zealand. He has shared the stage with contemporary greats such as Josh Pyke and Gang Of Youths, as well as legends like Mick Thomas and Mondo Rock. This life experience has fed back into Kyle‘s music. All of it has been funnelled into ‘The Creatures’. From its challenging music and themes, to its brilliant artwork by Ori Sindel, ‘The Creatures’ is a lovingly, painstakingly-made true work of art.
