British rising star LOLA YOUNG has shared her new track None For You, the second single to be taken from her forthcoming EP ‘Renaissance’, due out April 28th via Dew Process. To accompany the new release, Lola performed a touching piano version at the V&A Museum in London.
Produced by long-term collaborator Manuka, None For You is an exciting precursor to Lola’s forthcoming EP, ‘Renaissance’. Through it’s stripped back beats, lilting keys and warmly soulful mix of R&B and jazz, None For You is a candid insight into Lola’s strength of character. The accompanying video was filmed in the echoing halls of London’s V&A museum and the grandeur of the space befittingly matches her impressive vocal ability. The performance is the first time an artist has been permitted to record at the V&A and is a testament to Lola’s unique talent.
Speaking on the track, Lola shares: “None for you is about a relationship where you no longer have time for a person after they did you ‘dirty’. This song is about pain and loss but also about choosing to love yourself instead of that person and picking your own well-being over theirs. The lyric ‘I gotta whole lot of time on my hands but just none for you’ sums up the concept of this song.”
The video follows on from the success of Lola’s latest single, Pick Me Up which launched with an incredible session for Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show. Earlier tracks such as 6 Feet Under’ and Blind Love picked up huge radio support from the likes of Annie Mac, Benji B, Giles Peterson, Jo Wiley, Mistajam and DJ Target while simultaneously securing Lola’s position on the 2020 ones to watch lists for the likes of Dummy, Evening Standard, The i, The Sun, GQ and CLASH.
