El Cosgrove developed a love and talent for songwriting while growing up and riding horses in regional Queensland on her family’s farm in the Darling Downs, with her creativity flourishing while on her many travels between the Northern Territory to the Rocky Mountains of Canada. Music was always in El‘s blood, growing up surrounded by a musical family and developing her taste through regular family jams. El’s most recent single Honey has already gained its place in the AMRAP Top Ten Regional Charts and The Music Networks Country Top 50 Charts, setting the pace for the next releases yet to come. Coming off the back of the Femmestomp Tour, which included the Tamworth Music Country Festival where El was a Top 10 Nominee for the Toyota Starmaker, El is now set to release her EP titled ‘Honey’ (out 27th March) a week after the release of new single Some Fools.
El explains “I wrote Some Fools in an airport in California whilst my flight was yet again delayed. I began watching various characters pass through the terminal and wondered if their own stories may be anything at all like mine or whether anyone really did ‘have it all together’.”
Fans have been anticipating the new EP since El’s debut EP ‘Guitars & Cigars’ (2017), produced by ARIA/ Golden Guitar winning producer Matt Fell (Love Hz Studio, Sydney). El has supported artists including Brad Cox, Luke O’Shea, Davidson Brothers, Seleen Mcalister and Liam Brew, as well as appearing in festivals from Tamworth Country Music Festival to the Gympie Muster indicating that there is only more highlights ahead for this young Aussie artist. El has a desire to use her experiences growing up in a small rural town of Australia and bring these to people all over the world through her music. El was also a Senior Graduate of the CMAA Academy of Country Music in 2016, and has since gone on to become the winner of Best Unsigned Folk/Singer-Songwriter 2017.
El’s songwriting has developed with new experiences she’s had since her first EP, with all of the songs from the upcoming EP being written throughout a time of many intense highs and lows where life “threw me love, heartbreak, new travel experiences, new and old friends by my side and ultimately all lead me to learn and accept a lot about myself as a person.”
Fans can expect some of the most raw songs El has ever written, with a running theme of the notion that some of the best things come from what feels like the worst at the time. El explains that “Some Fools is a reflection of my own life in a lot of ways by owning the mistakes that I may have made along the way because of the acceptance that these experiences are simply what make me exactly who I am. No matter where I’ve been in the world the people who I have grown to love and get along with the most have always been able to share a great story and have a laugh at themselves and experiences they’ve found themselves in because of being exactly who they are.”
