Brisbane Unites: Bushfire Fundraiser – Q&A Series – THE AUTOMATON

Brisbane Unites Bushfire Fundraiser – The Mansfield Tavern – Saturday April 18

With our beautiful country burning before us, there has been a whirlwind of fundraiser shows popping up all over the country. There is nothing like live music to bring people together for a good cause. Brisbane has had its share of fundraiser gigs and there is more to come! Good Call Live are in full support of all these wonderful events, but one that is particularly close to our hearts is the Brisbane Unites Bushfire Fundraiser being held at The Mansfield Tavern on Saturday April 18.

All money raised from this special event will go to charity and one that is really important to the event organisers is the Bushfire Trauma/Mental Health Support gofundme set up by Magda Szubanski and Will Connolly. For more details on this and to donate now, click the donate button below.

Brisbane Unites features 28 bands from Brisbane and surrounds all banding together to raise funds for those affected by the horrendous and relentless bushfires. Over the next few weeks we will bring you a series of Q&A’s with some of the bands on the line up.

In this edition, we have a band who have very quickly become a part of the music scene here in Brisbane since their inception last year. THE AUTOMATON are a four piece of connection and perfection. Their heavy blues rock sounds combined with their clear passion and dedication for their art is easily noticed by all those who’ve been blessed to catch them play live.

Trust me on this one, THE AUTOMATON are going places and they’re doing it their own way. You can see it and feel it for yourself when they play at Brisbane Unites – Bushfire Fundraiser!

Brisbane Unites – Bushfire Fundraiser is a pretty special event, not only is it for a good cause but the line up is a showcase of some of the amazing musical talent we have here in Brisbane. How does it feel to be a part of it?

We feel so honoured to play this event and love the unity of the Brisbane scene for this cause. Getting to do what we love most, with an insane calibre of bands, for a cause that’s affected so many; that’s truly beautiful.

The event is being held at the iconic Mansfield Tavern. The venue has been huge for live music over the years and has hosted some huge names such as Violent Soho, Wolfmother, Grinspoon, The Offspring, No Doubt, Hunters & Collectors, Madness, Hoodoo Gurus, Skyhooks, The Angels, The Cult and the list goes on! It is great to see some live music happening there again! How do you feel about playing the venue? What does the venue mean to you?

We’ve seen a lot of bands start at the bottom of bills at this venue, who have cut their teeth there and are now headlining acts, it’s super inspiring.

Music is one of the most wonderful ways to unite people, what does music mean to you? How important is it to use music as a platform to help those in need at a time like this?

We feel playing music is an energetic transfer, like a call and response between people. All the bands that make music in our city are in a sense creating a time capsule of now. Everything happening now, affects the art we make, and connects us. It’s a natural conclusion that when crisis happens, the community rallies around each other through music.

The line up for Brisbane Unites is absolutely full of talent. If you had to pick just one band to give a shout out and a plug too, who would it be and why?

Fi has a platonic drum-based boner for Trickett, so, Like Thieves and Sunset Junkies.

What would you say to someone to encourage them to come along to this event to support the bands, the venue and the cause?

When it comes to heavy music in Brisbane, it doesn’t get better than this. The Mansfield is a killer venue on the southside, and we can’t think of a more worthy cause.
