Cop an earful of this one Hammers fans! The boys are hitting us hard with their new track Cracker Night and well, to be honest, it’s a real bloody cracker!
Anyone who is familiar with this awesome foursome would know, every song they give us is like a gift of true Aussie musical goodness. It’s honest, it’s heavy and it’s in your face like a hot meat pie thrown at you hard and fast from a good distance.
We asked guitarist, Lucas Stone how he would describe the Hammers sound to someone who had not heard them before:
“If The Bronx, Rose Tattoo, Kyuss and Every Time I Die fired up the barby, necked 98 tins each then tried to record a song, that’d just about sum it up I reckon”.
On Friday November 22, Cracker Night will be fired into the world for all to hear and you’d best brace yourself. It’s the second single from their upcoming new EP. Stone tells us a little about the track:
“It is a tribute to the Aussie glory days of the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s, as it is with most of Hammers‘ content. Before the Internet made people and shit in general, super weird. In this case specifically, Cracker Night. Guy Fawkes Night. Queen’s birthday weekend.
An honorary homage to loose Dads and mad Uncle’s around the country, getting shit faced and fuckin’ around with low-grade explosives. It’s a good time.“
When asked if we would see one of Hammers classic, amusing and witty film clips to go along with the new single, Stone filled us in on what we can expect:
“Got some visual treats on the way but a bit of a twist with this one, in comparison to previous videos…nice way to wrap the year up and showcase the sweet little ride we’ve been on over the last 12 months, we reckon. Hope y’all get a kick out of it.”
To celebrate the release of this new cracker, the guys play their single launch show on Saturday November 30 at the Woolly Mammoth Mane Stage with a brilliant line up of supports, DeadYet?, RHINO + A Somerset Parade. So don’t be a drongo, grab your tickets HERE NOW so ‘ya don’t miss out and cry into your cornflakes come the morning of the launch. For more details, check out the Facebook event page HERE.
We told the guys we thought the single launch show was bound to go off like a frog in a sock! We also asked Stone how they choose a venue and support bands when putting on a special show like this one:
“We’ve played the Woolly Mammoth before, and we loved it. Rad stage, good sound, and it’s a perfect size. We thought, “Yeah, fuck oath, that’ll work for a single launch”, then we just chose some mates that play music that’s pretty good as well, to hang out with us for the night. Deadyet!, A Somerset Parade and RHINO all rip, and we can’t wait too rip in with them.
We love frogs. But not in socks.”
