The Good Call Live Team are coming together in support of Support Act for #ausmusictshirtday !
Terresa Allen is one of our longest standing members of the writing team at Good Call Live. Terresa is a brilliant lyricist and songwriter as well as being a valued member of our team. One of the wonderful artists that Terresa works with is Sara O’Connor who has her album launch this week on November 14, more details HERE.
Have a read of what the wonderful Terresa had to say about her choice of band shirt and the importance of talking about and supporting mental health in the music industry:
Remember – YOU can help support the cause too by donating to our Official, Support-Act endorsed fundraising effort HERE
Tell us about your Aus Music T-Shirt:
“There’s plenty of Australian band T-Shirts in my wardrobe to pick from, as I’m a little partial to Aussie rockers! But I’ve decided to go with a shirt from local Gold Coast band – Hot Teas. They are a super cool and fun little folk, indie pop group who I first got to see when they debuted their EP Hot Teas & the Sugarcubes at Expressive Ground in Elenora.
As well as being the powerhouse behind Hot Teas, lead singer Josie Colette Cooper, along with the team at Expressive Ground do a whole heap for the local music scene on the southern end of the Goldie and are especially committed to nurturing and supporting up and coming new talent with some top initiatives for young artists like The Green Room Experience and Battle of the Bands.”

Aus Music T-Shirt Day is a super important initiative in the Australian music industry. Why is it such an important initiative to you?
“Firstly Aus Music T-Shirt Day is a great way to acknowledge and celebrate the depth of talent and diversity within the Australian music scene, whilst letting those that put their heart and soul into making music for us know that both they and their efforts don’t go unnoticed or unappreciated.
Secondly that it can lend itself to such a quality initiative as Support Act‘s raising of awareness and much needed funds, in order to assist those within the industry who may be in crisis or finding the going a little heavy is just cream on the cake.
You get to wear something associated with what you love, whilst helping out those who put it all on the line to make the thing you love! Win Win!“
We know that mental health can slip under the radar in this business. Why is it vital to talk about your mental health?
“There can be such an isolating stigma attached to mental health, but just like your physical health, your mental and emotional health operate on a continuum.
Sometimes you are are physically healthy and well, and sometimes you grow or become sick, which often can be through no fault of your own.
It’s the same with mental and emotional health, sometimes you are well balanced and managing and then sometimes you grow or become less so, sometimes even tipping towards the edge into unhealthy perceptions and times of acute crisis.
But just like there are resources and support available to help with your physical health, there’s also support out there to help manage and see you through the dark emotional times. I’ve used those supports as life rafts a few times now through some very dark and turbulent periods of my life. Looking back I’m so glad I did and am so very relieved that I didn’t take permanent and irreversible actions based on what now was clearly a temporary and unhealthy state of mind.
Needing a bit of help to stay afloat long enough to see the light again is nothing to be ashamed of.
You are worth more than you know.” T x
