Have a read of what Dames had to say about his choice of band shirt and the importance of talking about and supporting mental health in the music industry:
Tell us about your Aus Music T-Shirt:
“My Aus Music T-shirt is The Desert Sea from Sydney. As well as being a great band they are personal friends of mine, I’m also their Booking Agent. We’ve had some great times on and off the stage and they epitomise all the positive things about the industry.”
Aus Music T-Shirt Day is a super important initiative in the Australian music industry. Why is it such an important initiative to you?
“Aus Music T-shirt Day is important to me because they get behind humans trying to get by in one of the toughest and most competitive industries that exist. Being a Venue Booker, Booking Agent and playing in my own band gives me a behind the scenes insight into how ruthless yet amazing the industry can be.”
We know that mental health can slip under the radar in this business. Why is it vital to talk about your mental health?
“I believe it’s vital to speak about mental health in the industry because it’s important to remind people to get help if they need it. From my experience there is quite often too few doing too much for too many and for too little, which leads to burning out and either leaving the industry or getting jaded by it.”
Damien, you’re a legend and somehow in your hectic schedule you manage to give us so much support here at Good Call Live. Thank you for once again stepping up to the plate for this initiative that’s incredibly close to our hearts. We wish you and your angry RHINO brothers a very successful tour ahead and can’t wait to hear more tracks once they’re released!
