HOLIDAY PARTY Return With New Single, ‘No One’

Brisbane band Holiday Party make its long-awaited return today with a brand new single, No One. The first new music from the band since 2018, No One comes just in time for the band’s imminent BIGSOUND showcase next week.

Detailing the many complexities that come with the end of a relationship, No One sees Holiday Party combine their trademark junkyard pop with a choir of young Brisbane singers to take the song to euphoric new heights.

“No One explores the many, complex parts of a break up – be it a falling out with a friend, partner or letting go of a part of yourself,” founding members Mel Tickle and Luke McDonald said of the song.

“It starts in confusion, realisation and moves on to an epiphany. You’ll never get closure, but it’s probably for the best.”

No One is the first taste from Holiday Party after months spent in the studio, meticulously creating new music. “The song took a few months of writing, re-writing and tinkering to put together, although the structure came together quite quickly.”

“We’d been listening to Madonna‘s “Like A Prayer” a lot, and getting really inspired by some young singers we’d met through songwriting days and generally around Brisbane. We combined them into a super choir and once we added their voices it felt like No One was complete,”
Holiday Party said.

The Holiday Party choir includes Major Leagues/Pool Shop’s Jamiee Fryer, May Lyn, Simi Lacroix’s Jolie Chatfield and Jessica Paige Barrett, Benny Nelson, Jo Davie (Cigany Weaver),Jeremy Beamish (Beamish Brothers) and Dee Bradbery.

After spending months in the studio working on new music, playing shows around Brisbane and supporting the likes of G Flip, Holiday Party is a band that’s undergone a lot of evolution since its inception in 2017. Welcoming a new member in Pete Bernoth to the existing duo of Mel Tickle and Luke McDonald, the band are set to make the rest of 2019 theirs with even more good news to come very soon.
