SUNSCREEN Release ‘Falling In An Elevator’ EP, Out Now Via Spunk! Records + EP Tour Dates

“The band have drawn references and comparisons to the Cocteau Twins and The Go-Betweens and we can hear that but there’s also a solid sense of their own songwriting skills and style.” – Noisey / Vice

“Savants of the sunny indie song, keepers of the dreamy guitar sounds, all hail Sunscreen!” – Dave Ruby Howe, triple j

“It has the pulsing energy of a Siouxsie and the Banshees track…” – HighClouds

“Put lyrical vulnerability with the urban grit of indie rock, and you get dreamy Sydney based four-piece band Sunscreen.” – Fashion Journal

Treasured Sydney four-piece Sunscreen release their highly anticipated second EP, ‘Falling In An Elevator’, premiering via German tastemakers KALTBLUT this week and out now via Spunk! Records. The band hit the road in celebration of the EP for an East Coast tour, kicking off September 29.

Produced by Simon ‘Berkfinger’ Berkelman (Philadelphia Grand JuryArt Vs. Science), Sunscreen‘s ‘Falling In An Elevator’ exudes a beautiful toughness across its five tracks. The sonic exploration of the psyche of a romantically confused young person trying to survive in the big city, the EP was written over the course of years and explores concepts of romantic idealisation, heartache and self-possession with frank, powerful vulnerability.

The EP features Sunscreen‘s previously released dynamic, hook-driven first single High Over Love and their propulsive and romantically charged latest cut, Think About You, with both receiving adds to Fbi Radio rotation, spins on triple j’s Home & Hosed, and adds to Spotify’s Broad Chords and Chords + Cardigans and saw the accompanying music video for High Over Love added to rage.

Demonstrating Sunscreen‘s propensity for potent, introspective lyricism, the EP opens with an upbeat sense of anticipation and excitement with the bittersweet Own Two Feet, swaying into the reflective, rolling ballad, No Need, and the EP’s penultimate track, Co-Exist, a fast-paced and urgent sonic olive branch to a lost love. With Sunscreen‘s latest body of work, The ‘Falling In An Elevator’ sees the band find their lush, indie-rock sound informed by a new-found confidence and lucidity.

Having recently supported the likes of DMAs, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Jen Cloher and Ali Barter on tour and taking stage at Farmer & the Owl and Grampians Music Festival, Sunscreen hit the road throughout July in support of High Over Love, performing to packed out venues in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Sunscreen will bring their captivating live show to venues along the East Coast again this October in support of their ‘Falling In An Elevator’ EP, hitting Wollongong, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane throughout late-September and October. With their latest body of work in tow, Sunscreen find their lush, indie-rock sound informed by a new-found confidence and lucidity.

‘Falling In An Elevator’ is out NOW digitally and on vinyl via Spunk! Records.
