Turning up the heat in true Gold Coast fashion, Jake Carmody is back with Mamacita, a sultry, defining, and wholly refreshing second release which refuses to be bound by genre.
A collaboration with fellow Queensland man-of-the-hour Xavier Mayne, this woozy trap tinted burner is a testament to Jake’s diversity, as he branches out from the sounds of his past and swerves fully into his own lane. Latinhorn samples spiral amongst a shimmer of warm synths, rattling hi-hats, and thumping trap infused drums, a combination which climaxes with a spine shivering, dismantled drop in the second half.
Jake has steadily branded himself one of the the coastal city’s finest, having supported the likes of What So Not, Skrillex, A$AP Rocky, Luude, Wiz Khalifa and more, not to mention racking up performances at Splendour In The Grass, AusFest, Shakafest and shortly The Grass Is Greener 2019.
Working under the pseudonym Teen Fiction, since 2018, Jake released remixes and originals alongside Ministry of Sound AUS and Central Station Records, with one remix reaching #2 ARIA Club Charts, and his own release Let You Go scoring over 100,000 streams on Spotify to date, peaking at #1 on the triple j Unearthed charts.
The debut release as Jake Carmody came in March with Alone, a swirling dance release which marked his epic return to production. Spun on triple j’s tastemaker dance show Friday Night Shuffle, the track has seen over 11,000 streams on Spotify alone.
Mamacita further solidifies Jake Carmody’s place with the frontrunners, and with his sets at Grass Is Greener festival in October, not to mention more new music on the horizon, it’s going to be hard to miss Jake’s exciting new chapter.
