Windwaker are having a DREAM year. Their EP ‘Empire’ dropped in March to a rabidly excited audience – who responded in kind by eating the EP up on iTunes, Spotify and all online outlets.
The ‘Empire’ EP promptly charted at #19 on the ARIA Digital Albums Chart and #3 on the ‘100% Independent Albums’ AIR Chart! Not only that, they then went on to sign to New World Artists for bookings and proceeded to sell out every show on their headline ‘Empire’ release tour.
The band, whose track My Empire is still enjoying a good dose of triple j play – is today announcing that their wildly-popular EP ‘Empire’ is available for pre-order now on 10″ vinyl and on CD for the first time via Collision Course!
The Empire 10″ vinyl release will feature two variants – 1 pure white record and one transparent record with a lavender splatter! All the Vinyl and CD options for purchase will be at http://thefaction.live/store, as well as allocations to be available soon at 24 Hundred, JB Hi-Fi, Sanity and more.
There are 50 signed copies of the transparent/purple spatter vinyl available, as well as bundles and individual copies.
Windwaker will also be taking copies on the Beartooth tour (if not sold out sooner!), that they were just announced as national supports for, alongside the awesome Thornhill! Tickets are available at LIVE NATION.
The love for the band is no fluke either – the love is real, across the board – with killyourstereo.com saying that “Windwaker aren’t one of those local bands that gets talked up simply because they’re a local band and their mates like them. No, there’s actual, honest-to-god talent here.” and Depth Mag proclaiming that “Empire is such a treat of a listen, and I can already see it as being something that easily propels Windwaker to greater heights and deservedly gains them attention.”
The band have seriously ticked off a tonne of massive things in 2019 – My Empire premiered to the world on triple j‘s Good Nights with Bridget Hustwaite and then added to spot play and then bumped up to full rotation on triple j, featured as triple j unearthed feature artist, were chosen as the Download Festival Melbourne triple j unearthed artists, both tracks added to triple j unearthed rotation, both singles played on triple j‘s The Racket, Short Fast Loud and Home and Hosed and rotation on The Faction Radio, the cover image artists on Spotify’s Homegrown & Heavy playlist and both videos played on RAGE. Both singles have been added to Spotify playlists New Metal Tracks, Homegrown & Heavy, New Core and New Blood and featured on Spotify‘s New Releases of the week page, as well as featured on Amazon Music playlist Metal Scene and Apple Music playlist Heaps Heavy.
