TO CELEBRATE the upcoming release of their debut album General Bitterness and Inner-City Moonshine, rocking trio Dirty Hearts are heading out on the road for a series of headline shows.
Harking back to the glory days of alternative Aussie rock ‘n’ roll, the Brisbane/Gold Coast act will bring their energetic live show to the Currumbin Pub on Friday, October 20.
Having cut their live chops with some of the nation’s most revered bands such as You Am I, Jebediah and British India, Dirty Hearts will showcase songs from General Bitterness … for the very first time.
In recording their debut, front man Matt Doe said the band had put their own spin on alternative Aussie ‘90s rock.
“We weren’t interested in making an album where every song had the same sound,” he said.
“We’re not reinventing the wheel and it’s first and foremost rock ‘n’ roll, but we’ve tried to make a really diverse record.”
And after months of careful tinkering with the album, Doe said he was excited to finally play the band’s new tracks to live audiences.
“We had a great time during the recording process, but the live stage is what we’ve always thrived on,” he said.
“We love to put on a good ol’ fashioned rock show and we can’t wait to give everyone a good time.”
Dirty Hearts will be supported at the Currumbin Pub by Gold Coast bands Just Monday, Dawn of Dusk and Treachery Cove.
General Bitterness and Inner-City Moonshine is out November 17 through Near Enough Records.
